Facts and Figures

  • EMS stands for Emergency Medical Services

  • Ambulance service is owned and operated by Douglas Okanogan County Fire District 15

  • Ambulance service is operated by EMS levy Dollars and on a self-supporting income basis, not by Fire District 15 fire suppression tax dollars. 

  • Services over 10,400 people within the Fire District 15 boundaries and the communities of Brewster, Pateros, and Methow. 

  • Fire District 15 also services the people living in Douglas County, across the Columbia River from the end of Crane Orchard Road to Bridgeport Bar area and around Bridgeport.

  • A (6) year levy for EMS funds.

  • Up to $0.50 per $1000 assessed valuation.

    • That's $50 on a $100,000 dollar home.

      • That's $3 more per year from the previous Levy, that's less than a cup of coffee.​

  • Tax rates may decrease over the six year term.  

What Am I Voting On?

  • Possible increase in current ambulance costs.

  • Increased response times

  • Down grade service from Advanced Life Support (ILS) to Basic Life Support (BLS).

  • Revert back to an ALL Volunteer Based Service

  • Possibility of no EMS from Fire District 15. 

What Happens If the Levy Fails?

HELP US...SO WE CAN HELP YOU!

  • Total Response area in Douglas and Okanogan Counties: 250+ square miles.

  • Respond to over 550 calls for service a year.  That number is on trend to rise.​

  • Five (5) full time medical personnel

  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians

  • Ten (10) plus volunteers

  • Governed by a Board of Commissioners.

Awarded a 1 million dollar grant to improve the EMS station. 

  • New Sleeping Quarters​

  • Decontamination Room

  • Additional Apparatus Bay

  • Conference Room that can and has been utilized by the community.

Have certified car seat technicians available to inspect and install child car seats​.

Provide Safe Sitter and Safe at Home for the youth of the community.

  • Classes are made possible from  the Injury Prevention Grant Program. ​

Provided numerous Community Our-Reach Programs​

  • Sepsis Awareness​

  • Hands Only CPR

  • Bike Rodeos

  • Life Jacket Loaner Board​ in the community
